History of Robin
What's a worse fate for a child? To be abandoned at birth, having no memories of those who brought you into the world, or to know the warm glow from the face of your mother only to have it taken from you? The latter was the cruel hand dealt one lonely girl from West Blue, the only daughter of a family of Archaeologists living on Ohara Island, Robin Nico.
At two years of age Robin's mother, Olvia Nico, took the place of her husband, supposedly no longer a part of this world due to circumstances unknown, on a ship setting sail with a team of archaelogists determined to unlock the hidden and dark mysteries of the past of their world. No mere weekend warriors, these highly educated individuals hailed from the proud island Ohara, home to the Tree of Knowledge, the world's largest library, a living record of humanity and the knowledge born of it. With the ability to read a dead language, the mere existence of which was only whispered in dark corners, Olvia and her fellow achaeologists' mission was to decipher the mysteries of the past in order to understand the present. Although it broke her heart to leave Robin in the care of her younger brother and his rotten wife, Olvia set forth and left her daughter while she embarked on a mission that was destined for tragedy.
Despite the commanding presence of the Tree of Knowledge and the renown which it carried throughout the world, there seemed to exist something of a wall between the blue collar citizens of Ohara and the archaelogists. Working until the wee hours of the morning, achaeologists seemed almost a part of the great library they worked in while the other citizens lived there own simple lives. Without a family, Robin was ridiculed and jeered by her peers. It didn't help that somehow this young girl was also a Devil's Fruit user. At some point very early in her life, Robin consumed the Hana Hana Devil's Fruit which allowed her to sprout parts of her body from almost anywhere. The children of the island labeled her a monster and went out of their way to abuse her, even going so far as to throw rocks at her. A quiet and thoughtful girl, any attempts to defend herself from their attacks always seemed to be met with harsh reprimandings from other parents who believed she was the one harassing their children. With few other avenues left open to her, Robin wandered into the Tree of Knowledge one day where she found herself looking at books. Afraid to touch them for fear that she might get scolded as she did in so many other places, she was hesistant to pull one out when she heard a voice from behind her. It belonged to the lead archaeologist Professor Clover who instantly recognized her as the daughter of Olvia. With a twinkle in his eye he explained that every book there was free and welcomed her to read as much as she wanted. That simple act of kindness by the Professor gave birth to a progidy. In just a few short years, a mere 8-years old, Robin passed the qualifying examination for hopeful archaelogists. While little had changed in her life at the village, she was a completely different person among the researchers in the library. Recognized as something of a hero and source of inspiration for them all, it was the one place Robin could find happiness. But one day, the same day she received her exam results and became an officially recognized archaeologist, her destiny bound her to a long and dark trial that would test her very will to live.
Greeted with a surprise party celebrating her passing of the exam, with no less than a perfect score, Robin was awarded the scholar's medal, proof of her position as an official achaeologist. An elated but serious Professor Clover lectured her on the responsibility she now carried as an achaeologist: to explain that which cannot be explained and to explore that which hasn't been explored. Upon innocently expressing interest in something known as The Empty Century, Robin brought an abrupt end to the festivities. The Empty Century was a period where no history was recorded and thus no record or knowledge of what transpired during that time had survived, or at least was not 'believed' to. Visibly flustered by her interest in a subject known to be taboo, Professor Clover recinded his former charge and explained that The Empty Century was one piece of history that must be left untouched. Puzzled, Robin questioned why not, for if they merely translated and studied all of the ancient artifacts known as Poneglyphs, they would be able to figure out what happened during the period. Scattered about the world, Poneglyphs were objects of unknown origin left behind by a mysterious civilization that recorded the true path of history. Written in a dead language, very few people were able to translate them and those who could, would never publicly reveal their ability to do so for fear of repurcussions. In reality, what the researchers had been doing so late at night was analyzing a Poneglyph contained deep within the Tree of Knowledge. Realizing she must have used her Devil's Fruit ability to spy on them, the professor reminded her that the act of decoding a Poneglyph was considered a high crime. Not realizing the weight of her words, Robin questioned his severity since she'd seen them all working diligently in secret. The professor was infuriated by her actions but when Robin explained that she thought by becoming an archaeologist they would finally accept her as a part of their group and let her study with them it was hard to respond. Clover explained that all of them were risking their lives by conducting their research, research which had been forbidden for 800 years. As just a child she couldn't be expected to gamble with her life the same way they were. He demanded that she swear never to peek into the basement of the Tree of Knowledge ever again or risk being banned from ever entering the library again. Distraught and feeling betrayed by the only people close to her, Robin ran until her legs wouldn't carry her any further. As she ran, little did Robin know Clover and the others were protecting her from following the same path as her mother; for it had just come to their attention that Olvia, now a criminal for her forbidden research, had been captured by Marines not a week earlier.
The next day, wandering the far coast by herself, Robin curiously approached a sight that would surely send any grown man running for his life, a shipwrecked giant washed up on shore. Not shocked by his imposing size or ragged appearance, Robin instead led the thirsty and wounded giant to fresh water. Grateful to Robin for leading him to water, the giant struck up a conversation with the young girl. His wounded leg would keep him grounded for a while but he intended to move on after it healed. He explained that he wasn't a member of the battle-friendly Elbaf giant race, he was part a different more refined giant race despite his heavy twanging accent. Upon asking Robin to keep his presence on the island a secret between them, Robin dutifuly replied. The giant instantly groaned realizing he had just asked a young child to keep a secret which was likely impossible, but Robin dead-panned that she wouldn't tell a soul, mainly because she wasn't really interested in him. Her brutal honesty sent him into a laughing fit, "Dereshishishi~!" Not quite sure how to respond to such a strange sound, Robin wasn't sure if he was trying to speak or not. Such an absurd sound coming from such an odd giant, Robin couldn't help herself and for the first time in a long time, Robin laughed.
For four days Robin spent time keeping the giant company while he recovered and he in turn befriended Robin. Saul D. Hagwar, the giant, was the very essence of the term 'gentle giant' and Robin's glumness seemed to disappear little by little. She brought him food from home, to the displeasure of her aunt, and despite the human-sized portions, Saul was grateful. The more they talked, the more Saul was amused by Robin's devil-may-care attitude and tried to get her to cheer up by teaching her to laugh like him, "Dereshishishi~." She looked absurd but the queer laugh seemed to cheer her up. On the fifth day Saul completed a makeshift raft he could sail off on. It was when he began to talk to Robin about her past that a terrifying realization dawned upon him. Although Robin had mentioned her mother was an archaeologist she never mentioned her name, but when she told him her mother's name was Olvia, Saul paled. Saul was actually a Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral whom just days before had apprehended Robin's mother under orders to detain archaeologists seeking the ressurection of an ancient weapon supposedly linked to the Poneglyphs. However, after apprehending her, Marine Admiral Sengoku laid down the order to unleash a furious blitz krieg on Ohara to kill all the researchers and destroy any evidence of their findings. It was none other than the dreaded Buster Call, an indiscriminate hail of warship cannon fire that could level an entire island. Feeling these measures were far too extreme after doubting the link between archaelogists and the ancient weapon in the first place, Saul broke direct orders by freeing the prisoner Olvia and abandoning the Marines. It was during a skirmish as he made his escape that his leg was wounded and and he washed ashore Ohara by coincidence. Realizing the very real danger they were in Saul told Robin not to tell anyone that she had worked with the archaeologists of Ohara. He also said that her mom may even be on Ohara, and indeed she was.
Olvia had arrived under the cover of darkness the night before and at that very moment was meeting with the scholars in the Tree of Knowledge warning them of the attack that was swiftly approaching them. She also brought the grim news that outside of herself the 33 members of her team were all dead. During this crisis, for fear of making a link between them in the eyes of the Marines or World Government, Olvia specifically avoided attempting to see Robin and instead grabbed a rifle and prepared for battle. None of the scholars were willing to just leave their work to be defiled by the power of the Buster Call, they all resolved to stay behind to protect the irreplaceable volumes contained within the Tree of Knowledge passed down to them through generations. When a scholar burst in on the grim reunion and announced that a ship flying the flag of the World Government had just docked at Ohara, Olvia took off after it with one final request, should she be caught, under no circumstances were they to reveal any relation to her. It was then, running through the streets as citizens began to panic, that Robin and Olvia crossed pathes without even realizing it.
When Robin arrived at the Tree of Knowledge she learned that her mother had left only moments earlier. Upon warning Robin once again not to reveal her abilities as an archaeologist, Clover was interrupted when a squad of World Government agents burst into the library. They labeled the scholars as 'demons attempting to destroy the world' via deciphering the Poneyglyphs. Robin was caught in the library with the scholars as the great tree was torn apart by agents in search of the Poneglyph. Elsewhere Olvia made contact with the World Government ship and wasted no time firing upon the agents. Unfortunately her targets were the elite secret assassin force known as Cipher Pol 9 and their scheming leader, Spandein. Olvia tried to deny any connections between her and the scholars of Ohara but Spandein wouldn't fall for a weak lie and it had already been decided to make Ohara an 'example' of what would happen to those who dared to uncover the secrets of The Empty Century. Olvia was no match for the two CP9 members accompanying Spandein and was brought down in moments. She was taken to the center of Ohara's main village along with the other scholars and Robin. It was here that she laid eyes on her daughter for the first time in six years and she couldn't even talk to her for fear of spreading her 'crime' to her daughter. Meanwhile, in the Tree of Knowledge, agents had discovered the location of the Poneglyph and set out to destroy it with a series of explosions. Although the Poneglyph was strangely left undamaged, the tree itself caught fire and began to burn, all this after Spandein had initiated the Buster Call with an order from his Golden Denden Mushi. All hell broke loose as the scholars, their fates sealed with the Buster Call, were free to move about again and rushed into the burning Tree of Knowledge to save any books they could. Olvia was to be taken in for more questioning by Spandein but it was at that moment Robin saw Olvia's face clearly and recognized her as the mother she only had passing visions of for the past six years. She called out to her but not wanting to doom her own daughter to her own fate, Olvia refused to recognize her. Robin called out to her more desperately which only made Olvia's refusal all the more painful but as a mother she could only take so much and finally called out to her daughter. Suddenly a cannon ball blast landing uncomfortably close separated CP9 and Olvia. The mother/daughter link between them established, the assassins asked Spandein for orders regarding the two of them. Since the Buster Call had been initiated and they had no chance of survival, Spandein let both of them do as they pleased and instead headed for his own ship to avoid the onslaught.
Thinking of the children she had seen through the years happily holding the hands of their mothers and fathers, Robin quietly sat down next to Olvia amidst the growing chaos and took her hand. Moved beyond words, Olvia took Robin in her arms and held her tight. Robin cried in her mother's arms apologizing for following in her footsteps but instead of decrying her daughter's actions like so many others, Olvia praised her. Hearing inspirational words from the person that meant the most to her put Robin to tears but there was little time to cry as the bombing was increasing. At that moment Saul arrived and after quickly explaining the fateful events which brought him to Ohara, Olvia entrusted Robin to the giant, charging him with getting Robin safely off the island. Robin begged her mother not to stay behind but Olvia refused to leave the history and knowledge contained within the library to burn to the ground without a fight. Her job was to preserve the past and it was Robin's to light a path to the future with that knowledge. Robin cried out to be left behind with her mother but Saul knew Olvia had no intentions of surviving the Buster Call. While fires and bombs turned the island into an unrecognizable hell, the last words she heard from her mother were, "Live Robin!"
Despite his injured leg, Saul tore across the island attempting to find some safe place to keep Robin, but his great size proved more a hinderance than help as he was soon spotted and identified as the AWOL former Vice Admiral. Ships soon targeted him with their cannons and poured rounds directly into his face. He could not risk such attacks as it endangered both his life and Robin's. Putting her in a temporarily sheltered location Saul told her to wait while he dealt with the hinderance. Robin pleaded for him to simply run but there was no way to run from the Buster Call. Saul took his enemy head on and lifted an entire Marine Warship out of the water and hurled it into another, completely destroying them. During the confusion caused by his counterattack he told Robin to run to the nearby ship for the townspeople who weren't scholars. Robin attempted to board the ship but the frightened villagers and Marines were wary to let her onboard after one villager recognized her from the newspaper as Olvia's daughter. Ultimately they came to their senses and realizing she was only a child they decided to let her board when Spandein contacted the Marines on deck. He had spotted her from his ship and announced via a Phone Snail that were she to board their ship, all of their lives would be in peril. Seeing Robin in danger of losing her only escape route due to Spandein's meddling, Saul rushed to her aid when he was hit from behind with a giant partisan formed of ice. It was the work of Vice Admiral Kuzan, a Logia Devil's Fruit user able to form ice with his body at will; a long-time friend of Saul, Kuzan was forced to take sides with duty over his friendship. Saul tried to reason with him but as a warrior dedicated to a justice defined by his superiors, Kuzan was unwilling to stand down. Just then the civilian escape ship loaded with Marines and innocent villagers Robin had tried boarding just moments before was hit directly with a massive explosive round, reducing the ship to broken timber. The attack was no mistake as it was a direct order from the mysterious and cold Vice Admiral Sakazuki. Not wanting to risk the chance of any archaelogist stowaways on board, Sakazuki took matters into his own cruel hands and ordered the attack. Despite his loyalty to his duty, Kuzan couldn't help but be shaken by the heartless attack in the name of so-called 'justice'.
Seeing Kuzan's shock, Saul made a last attempt to save Robin by attacking the Vice Admiral when he was off-guard then scooped up Robin and ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. Before Saul could get far he suffered a continuous freezing attack from Kuzan that started as patch of ice on his left leg that quickly expanded and began consuming his entire body. As he was slowly engulfed, Saul begged Robin to use his raft to escape to sea. Robin was terrified of being alone at sea, a fate even worse than her lonely and miserable life in a town where hardly anyone cared for her, but Saul made her a promise. He promised that one day she would find others, others at sea not unlike herself, people that would keep her safe. Robin was frozen in fear but Saul swore to her, "Nobody has ever been born into this world completely alone!" Amidst the flames and explosions Saul's face began to frost over but he made his last words just for Robin, "When life is painful, I taught you what ya gotta do. You gotta laugh like this, 'Dereshihsishishi!!!'... Someone out there on the sea, they're waitin' for you Robin. Go meet 'em!!!" And as Saul's face became nothing more than a moment frozen in time, Robin ran. Elsewhere the Tree of Knowledge was overcome with flames but the scholars' efforts were not in vain, they had managed to throw many of the library's invaluable texts into a lake outside the library, dampening their pages but saving them from the flames. As the tree came down around her and the other researchers, Olvia's only regret was that she could not leave her daughter with words to remember her by as a mother.
Robin ran as fast and far as her legs could take her until she came upon a clearing where she found a small rowboat...and Vice Admiral Kuzan seated beside it. Even though his job and his duty wouldn't allow him to spare a colleague and friend, Kuzan made the decision to save the life of the 'seed' Saul bet his life on. Creating an ice-enclosed path leading to land not far from the island, the Vice Admiral decided for once to make his own justice. He warned Robin that while he was saving her life, he was not her ally and would watch her movements making sure she didn't follow in the scholars' footsteps. She pleaded once more for her mother but Kuzan reassured her, no one left on the island would survive. With Kuzan's cold words burned into her mind she boarded and set off into the water with only memories of friends and family she'd known to be living and breathing just minutes before. With no one to call a friend all alone on the cold sea she set out for a life of running from the law, dodging bounty hunters after her 79,000,000 Belly head, betrayl from people she trusted and associating with some of the most vile and cruel criminals known to mankind all for her burning desire to uncover the secrets of the Poneglyphs; the secrets her mother died trying to uncover. As the water lapped against her boat reflecting the black and furious burning hell behind her, she clutched her knees to her chest and did the only thing she could. Trying to hold back her tears her small voice was lost among the chaos created by the Buster Call, "Dereshi!! Dereshi!!!"
Notes on Robin:
Personality
Call her a realist or a pessimist, either way you’d probably be right. Robin always has macabre, scary or sickening comments to make about whatever situation might be at hand. The truth is, she’s just being realistic but these comments horrify Nami and are never a source of inspiration for anyone else. (Poor Nami) Since Robin is a character Oda has chosen not to define with manzai-style humor (something he has done with every single other crew member) this is Oda's way of adding humor to persona.
Characteristics
As far as we know by volume 46, Robin is the only living person capable of deciphering the ancient text. The last of the Ohara scholars able to read the language were killed during the Buster Call at Ohara 20 years ago. However, it seems the scholars may not have been the only ones who could read them.
Robin has a decent fashion sense and can lend tips to other crew members, specifically Luffy, Zoro and Chopper.
At 6' 2" Robin towers over most of the male crew members including the only other female crew member Nami who ranks in at a mere 5' 6" 1/2. The crew's shipwright appears to be taller than Robin but we have not received confirmation of their height. This places Robin as the current 2nd tallest human crew member.
At the time of her joining she was the oldest member of the crew. Presently she holds the title of second oldest crew member while remaining the wisest of the bunch. Oda hinted that someone as intelligent as her might be joining the crew in an SBS long before her appearance.
Trivia, Puns and Observations
Robin's birthday is February 6th. Another play on numbers with her name "Ni" and "Ro" for 2 & 6 respectvely in Japanese, the first syllables of her last and first name.
At 8 years-old she was cursed with a 79 Million Belly bounty. Although this was given to her based on the danger she posed to the World Government and their eagerness to capture/silence her, as an adult this was also indicative of her strength in combat. When she first joinined the crew she had the second highest bounty in the crew above even Zoro. This has changed since the events at Enies Lobby.
Oda estimates that it is possible for her to sprout hands at a radius of 200 "Hana Hana's", but it is anyone's guess as to what that means exactly as he is famous for giving mock values.
The name of Robin's Blooming Patterns are half Spanish and half French. The number of 'spouts' she creates are given in Spanish while their 'flowering' is given in French. To round her off as the United Nations of OP character attacks, many of the attacks she performs with Blooming Patterns are given in English.
Robin is searching for the Poneglyphs to complete their message. In her own words, there are two kinds of Poneglyphs, those that hold information and those that lead to information. When one connects the data from Poneglyphs that hold information, he or she will be able to construct the Rio Poneglyph, a record of the true history of the world detailing the events that happened during the Blank Century.
Robin's bounty nickname is referencing her connection to the so-called 'Demons of Ohara'. The World Government demonized the scholars at Ohara working to decipher Poneglyphs under the pretext that they were trying to use the glyphs to locate and activate an ancient weapon for destructive purposes. Robin has again been ruthlessly branded with this title simply for reasons of her lineage.
Oda confirmed in an SBS that since Robin can sprout any part of her body, yes, she could probably make multiple copies of her breasts as well.
Of the crew members at the time, Robin took Last Place (6th) in the 2005 'Your Favorite Techniques' vote. She did not have a single attack in the Top 30.
Note the medal Robin wears on her arm during the Baroque Works and Skypiea arcs. During the former she wore the medal with the letters 'BW' for Baroque Works while during the latter it can clearly be seen with an 'N' for Nico. She seems to have interchangeable cases for the medal which is probably the one she received 20 years ago certifying her position as a scholar.
This is an enigma wrapped up in a puzzle hidden within a riddle tucked away in the corner of my basement next to the Mad Scient: Dissect an Alien playset. Robin has not yet received a 'The 6th' chapter making her an 'official' crew member. While she's obviously a crew member this means she has something left to prove to herself or to the crew. Considering the events that literally revolved around her at Enies Lobby, one must wonder what else there is left for her to take the leap. Only Oda knows for certain.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Having the power of the Hana Hana Fruit, Robin is almost god-like in a fight against any normal-sized adversary. However, against very large foes, Robin has as much trouble as anyone since she cannot get a quick and easy grasp on them. However, she is able to perform 'holds' on large enemies by linking multiple bloomings of her arms together.
Robin's biggest battle-related weakness is in her bloomings themselves. While in receiving damage to any limbs she sprouts she does not receive similar wounds on her body, she does feel pain as they are in fact her 'own' appendages.
Her sprouted individual arms only have as much strength as she does and not being physically powerful herself, Robin is incapable of dealing with opponents physically larger or more powerful than she is. However, this is where some ingenuity on her part comes in handy. Using multiple bloomings or her arms, Robin is able to link them together to form a single powerful working unit. She is able to use such structures offensively and defensively.
Another one of Robin’s so-called "weaknesses" is somewhat like Sanji’s addiction to Nami. She will not allow any harm come to artifacts. This doesn’t sound like a weakness really, but during a certain battle she was severely injured when she attempted to protect ancient stone structures and figures around her.
One of One Piece's great charms is that even though we have a character who can sprout body parts from almost anywhere, author Eiichiro Oda likes to incorporate little bits of real world physics here and there. Robin can create long rope-like chains with her arms but they can only support themselves so much before falling under their own weight over long distances. This means in some cases she's able to reach out to distant friends or foes, but if the gap is too wide, Robin is helpless.
As any long-time fan of One Piece could tell you, Robin's greatest weakness has nothing to do with battle. Robin's most debilitating weakness was the trauma she endured with the collapse of the world around her as she knew it under the force of the Buster Call. While the events proceeding the awesome Marine and World Government blitz krieg made her into a powerful and supposedly self-sufficient loner, calling back those memories caused her to become the same helpless girl she was twenty years ago. When her friends' lives were threatened by the forces of Cipher Pol 9 under orders from Ao Kiji with a Buster Call, Robin instantly abandoned her dear crew mates not believing for a moment they could withstand the force of the attack that destroyed everything and everyone she loved as a child.
Robin Spoilers
Since it's a chore making additional spoiler pages, if for some odd reason you DON'T want to know these spoilers, then just don't highlight the text below. They cover material through Volume 48. Muchos gracias
Robin Nico first appeared in One Piece as Miss. All Sunday, the Vice President of Baroque Works and the right-hand woman of Mr. 0. She was hired not for her strengths, that was merely an added bonus, but for her ability to decipher the artifacts known as poneglyphs. The scene where she was 'recruited' by Mr. 0 was included in her flashback depicting the Buster Call at Ohara.
One of the first known facts about Robin's past was that she destroyed six Marine battleships by herself. This was a convenient lie constructed by the World Government in conjunction with the Marines to cover up the real flow of events at Ohara. It would seem that no less than four (presumably five) ships were destroyed by the Marines' own turncoat Vice Admiral Saul. Meanwhile the sixth ship being used as an evacuation vessel containing non-scholar inhabitants of Ohara, as well as a number of Marines, was destroyed by the Marines themselves, an order from then Vice Admiral Sakazuki. The truth of these events would have severely damaged the image of the Marines and the World Government thus pinning the crime on Robin killed two birds with one stone. Not only was she ruthlessly sought after by those looking to cash in on her bounty, but the government and Marines escaped criticism for the tragedy they caused. This is how Robin received her 79,000,000 Belly bounty at 8-years old.
Besides Robin and the Ohara scholars, it seems that the former Pirate King Gol D. Roger was also able to read the symbols on Poneglyphs. Robin believes that Gol D. Roger managed to read and connect the inscriptions on all Poneglyphs holding information based on the graffiti written by him that she translated from Shandia's Poneglyph.
After Robin left the crew in Water Seven it's interesting to note that she was never considered exiled from the crew unlike Usopp. According to the comic compilation's Introduction she was listed as being part of a grey area (literally in a grey colored box) connected to the crew. It may symbolize that while she left the crew, the crew never officially recognized her departure.
Before her rescue at Enies Lobby, during her time with the Straw Hat Crew, Robin did not call most of her fellow crew members by name. Instead she referred to them by title or profession. However, she occassionaly called Luffy by name instead of 'Captain'. This gave her a more mature and somewhat distant, but not cold, relationship with the crew. She made the surprising switch during a rescue mission on Thriller Bark where she called Usopp and Chopper by name.

Kuracchi (12 hands) | Clutch | Yama, Spandam | Vol.29 pg24. Vol.44 pg200. | Pattern: Unknown. Using twelve arms Robin disables her opponent by putting them in a deadly hold. I have listed this seperate from the above Clutch because Robin used 12 hands here, but did not call out a specific blooming pattern. |
Furippu | Flip | Capote | Vol.33 pg37. | Pattern: Ocho Fleur. Robin restrains her opponent with 6 arms then uses 2 more to flip them over backwards. |
Kuracchi (30 hands) | Clutch | Ao Kiji | Vol.34 pg76. | Pattern: Treinta Fleur. Using thirty arms Robin binds a powerful normal human-size opponent by restraining their appendages and attempts to break his or her spine by bending them backwards. |
Surappu | Slap | Spandam, Tararan | Vol.44 pg11. Vol.47 pg98. | Pattern: Seis Fleur. Sprouting 6 arms from the trunk of her opponent, Robin proceeds the slap her victim repeatedly. |
Gurappu | Grasp | Franky | Vol.45 pg132. | Pattern: Dos Fleur. Sprouting 2 arms from a male opponent's legs she unleashes a inhumane and hellish attack by firmly grasping... Supposedly employs the infamous 'grab twist and pull' manuever according to the Square Sisters. |
Tsuisuto (23+ hands) | Twist | Surprise Zombie | Vol.47 pg.17 | Pattern: Unknown. Using at least 23 arms, Robin twists the unusually long trunk of an inhuman target inducing severe pain. |
Suramu | Slam | General Zombie | Vol.47 pg61. | Pattern: Once Fleur. The image in the comic does not show 11 arms so until the animation provides a sequence of the attack in motion one may only speculate that the attack is as follows: Robin sprouts 4 arms just above an opponent's kneecap and uses them to grab his or her face which lifts one of the victim's legs off the ground; then she sprouts 7 arms from the floor to grab her opponent's other leg and slams them down to the ground on his or her back. |
Uingu | Wing | Self | Vol.47 pg82. | Pattern: Cien Fleur. Sprouting 50 arms from each of her shoulders, Robin interlocks the arms to create a giant pair or wings. She can use these wings to 'fly' for about 5 seconds before it becomes too stressful on her body. It should be noted that according to the number of arms drawn, Robin sprouts far more than 100 arms. Until further clarification, this should be considered an artistic mistake rather than a story discontinuity. |
Supaida~ Netto | Spider Net | Zoro | Vol.48 pg221. | Pattern: Cien Fleur. Robin forms a net of arms that resemble a spider's web to catch someone or something. |

Unlisted Conflicts
The requisites for some battles are questionable. It appears that if only one punch (or kick or whatever) is thrown, then it does not count as a battle (except in the very first bout listed). There are also different types of conflicts, (meaning other than throwing punches or kicks), which are not listed. These are my opinion and were not officially listed.
- Robin VS Pell [Chapter 170]
- Robin VS 30+ Marines [Chapter 201]
- Robin VS Sir Crocodile [Chapter 203-204]
- Crew VS Shoujou [Chapter 226]
